Information for travelers, commuters and tourists

Here you can see what requirements and rules apply to entry into Denmark - both as a Danish citizen, foreigner or commuter. You can also find information about test options.

Arrival in Denmark

The guidelines vary depending on how you arrive in Denmark.

Arrival by car or boat

When you arrive in Denmark, the requirements for testing depend on which country you come from.

If you arrive by plane to Denmark, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with travel restrictions at www.coronasmitte.dk

Test at Billund Airport

At Billund Airport, a test center has been established for both travelers and citizens.

Visit Billund Airport website for more information on tests at the airport.

Arriving passengers must present a boarding pass at the test center.

Passengers traveling from Billund Airport must bring proof of either a ticket on the mobile or a printed ticket.

Danes from 2 years and up who are not travelers must book an appointment for a test on coronaprover.dk

Opening hours for the testing center at Billund Airport:

  • Monday: 8-24
  • Tuesday: 8-24
  • Wednesday: 7-24
  • Thursday: 8-24
  • Friday: 8-01
  • Saturday: 8-24
  • Sunday: 8-24

If there is a queue, the queue will be closed off, so that the test center can comply with the closing hours.

There is also the possibility of quick tests in connection with flights.

On the region's website you can find an overview of all Danish test centers.

If you have a Danish CPR number

  • You can have a quick test done at a center offering quick tests.
  • You can get a PCR-test without an appointment at our mobile PCR testing centers.

  • You can get a PCR-test at our regular PCR test centers if you have booked an appointment at www.coronaprover.dk (Opens in a new window).
  • If you do not have a NemID and are not registered on sundhed.dk, you must contact the national corona hotline on 7020 0233. They can register you. At the Corona hotline, you will be instructed in what you need to do before you can have a test done.  

If you do NOT have a Danish CPR number 

  • You can have a quick test done at a center offering quick tests.
  • You can be tested at one of the Region of Southern Denmark’s centers offering mobile PCR tests after you have registered at www.coronaresults.dk

  • You can also get a PCR test at our PCR test centers by first signing up at www.covidresults.dk and then showing up within the opening hours at one of our large test centers, which you will find in Frøslev, Kruså, Sønderborg, Aabenraa, Esbjerg, Vejle, Kolding, Odense, Svendborg and on Ærø.
  • You cannot be tested at the region's small PCR test centers in Tønder, Haderslev, Grindsted, Fredericia, Middelfart and Nyborg.

Test option for commuters

Test options in Germany

If you live abroad and work in Denmark, you can get a free quick test at Falck's test center in Handewitt. The test is free if you can present documentation that you work in Denmark. The address is Scandinavian Park 9, 24983 Handewitt, Germany.

It costs 299 DKK to get a quick test. The quick test is free for foreigners who can prove that they travel to Denmark to work.

The test center is open:

  • Monday: 00.00-20.00
  • Tuesday-Thursday: 04.00-20.00
  • Friday: 04.00-22.00
  • Saturday: 07.00-00.00
  • Sunday: 07.00-00.00

You can also get a free quick test at the border crossing at Sæd every Monday between 5.00 and 10.00.

Test options in Denmark

There are quick test centers close to the border on the Danish side in both Padborg and Tønder in order to meet the test requirements of citizens in the border country who commute across the border.

You will find the quick test centers here:

  • Visherredsvej 3, 6330 Padborg, open 07.00-18.00.
  • Tønder Sports – og Fritidscenter, Sønderlandevej 4-6, 6270 Tønder, open 07.00-18.00.

In addition, it is possible to be tested at mobile test centers in the municipalities.

Foreigners and tourists with symptoms should contact a general practitioner

Foreigners and tourists with symptoms of COVID-19 should call the nearest GP in the area. Out of the doctor's working hours, the person in question can call the on call doctor on tel. +45 70 11 07 07.
